Lurching when stopping

Hey guys, I got a 1995 Silverado 1500 4x4. Lately, as soon as I am about to come to a stop, my truck is giving me a slight lurch in the back and feels like it is pulling me backwards slightly. It feels as if I'm being tugged on as I come to a stop. Then, when I release the brake at a green light to start moving again, it gives the same lurch and croak sound and lurches me forward. It's not very significant, I mean im not getting whiplash or anything but its definitely noticable. Anyone have any ideas? And if so, anyone know an approximate price to fix?

Could the drums be sticking? If you did any brake work recently, make sure the smaller shoes are at the front.

no, havent done any brake work to it, although its about due in the front at least. My friend suggested it could be my "U joint" or sumthing to that effect. Any ideas

Could it be axle wrap? I never experienced it but it supposed to give a rubberband effect/feel.

Did your friend say slip yoke? I was going to suggest that, but I didn't think they started having that problem till '98, at least on a large number of trucks. It's possible on any RWD vehicle though. Search for "Clunkerado" in the Silverado fourm for more detailed information.

this happened to my dads suburban. the slip yoke either had to be greased or replaced. I can't remember which.
