make sure your gas cap is screwed on all the way... it can also be a sensor, or if your car goes over a certain amount of miles, it might come on automatically

you need an obd2 (obdii) scanner. Some parts places will scan your car computer for free so call around.

An Equus scanner is made well and costs about $120.

There is no timing belt, just chains - 3 of them. One chain drives the 2 intake cams and balance shaft, and the exhaust cams are driven off the intake cams by smaller chains. Hopefully no service is required here. Looks like a major hassle to replace the chains and guides, and special GM tools are needed as well.

As far as the code P0410.... basically states improper air flow from the secondary air injection system. Could be restricted hoses, pipes, etc. Maybe even pump or solenoid valve? On my 2002 I was underneath the car putting a fog light in and noticed that the AIR pump pickup was busted off the bottom of the pump. I finally got it reseated and it stays in place, so far. As far as any code I have seen nothing yet. Although I think it needs to be above 41 degrees for the pump to run and it's been cold here.

I honestly don't know how much to fix it. You'll probably have to get the dealer involved. How many miles on the car? Maybe it could be covered under emission warranty?

If it happens to me, I'll probably go step-by-step out of my service manual, and/or ask my buddies at the GM dealer (where I used to work) if they'd take a look for me. From reading my manual, it says with the Tech II tester you can manually turn the AIR pump on and off, etc. Maybe the pickup dropped off yours and it sucked up dirt, etc and trashed the pump?
