how old are your spark plugs, wires, and fuel filter, and for that matter your oil.

This is a classic. Your Torque Converter Solenoid is bad. Do a search in here and find all the info you need. Unplug it and you will be fine.

It is inside the bell housing of the tranny. You do NOT need to get to it. The plug is on the outside of the tranny. It is about an inch in diameter on the tranny near where it attaches to the motor. Towards the front of the car. It is the only plug in that area so you should have no problems. Good Luck.

The cost of replacing it is not usually cost effective. Parts and Labor are often over $400.
Cost of disconnection is usually a very small loss of MPG. Most times it is not noticable.
