I have to replace my right CV-Joint on my Honda, we got it apart to the point where we could see the joing. The problem lies in seperating the CV-Joint from the shaft comming out of the trans. Does anyone know of any tricks. I know there is a spring ring in there and that seems to be the hanging point. There is nothing to pry against to overcome this pressure. Anything?

If the CV axle is junk, just pull it out as hard as you can and it'll come. Otherwise get a long bent prybar and pry the axle on the metal part against the tranny.

Here's a post that i made about a week ago in a different thread, but it should help a little

CV axles are not that hard to replace.

1.Pull the tire off

2.Remove brake caliper by removing the bolts on the back that hold the caliper to the wheel assembly.

*******WARNING*******
When you remove the caliper, you have to hang it on a piece of welding rod or a coat hanger because if you hang it by the brake line, you'll be posting on here again with brake problems.

3.Remove the brake rotor

4.Get a 31mm (i think) socket and remove the nut in the center of the brake rotor (on the shaft)

5. Take the bolt out of the tie rod arm, pull it out of the hole its in and rotate it out of the way.

6.Remove the bolts (2) on the strut assembly above where the brake rotor was.

7.Pull the wheel assembly forward and rotate it off to the side while
trying to pull the cv axle out of the hole in the wheel assembly.

8.When you get the cv axle out of the wheel assembly, you can do 1 of 2 things....if it is bad/garbage, you can simply pull it out by hand, or if it might be still good, you can get a pry bar and gently loosen it from the transmission.

9.Install the new cv axle the same way as you took it apart.

10. Put the cv axle in the transmission and when you push it in, twist it a little bit....that seems to help.

11. Reverse the steps and you should be ready to go.

It should take about 30min or less, but if this is your first one, it'll probably take you an hour or so. PM if you have questions or post on here and i'll try to check.

Good Luck!!
