hello.

my friend who stinks at making models (haha) went and cracked a big chunk of a tamiya nsx. he then gave the model to me.i am now trying to fix it up for him and i was wondering if anyone knows of any ways to fix this big crack. i circled the part with a big blue circle in the picture below. he messed up the body pretty bad and as you can see i have begun fixing it using putty. the putty i use is squadron putty and in my point of view it sucks. so if you have any methods that i can possibly try, please post them. thanks a whole bunch!

Reinforce it from behind by glueing in some sheet styrene with plastic cement and then, once that's cured, smooth it with putty.

What's wrong with Squadron?
I use it without any problems.

hmm i might try that. my squadron putty is the green stuff and for some reason it when sanding it down, even with really small grit paper, a whole chunk of the putty comes apart, leaving holes. also occasionally it eats through the plastic that i put it on. i dono maybe its just the tube im using right now

Build up your layers, dont try and apply too much filler at a time, it need time to cure properly. For the 'A' pillar I would suggest a blob of superglue on each side, give it a couple of days to go off poperly then slowly sand it back to shape. give the body a few coats of primer befor painying and use a dark colour, this will help disguise any flaws you may be left with. I would say it is repairable, but its going to need some careful work.

If it is just a crack, flow some liquid plastic glue in, the thin stuff. It will fuse the plastic together almost as strong as original. For the A pillar reinforce it with some brass wire otherwise it will only break again.
