Scam or for real?

I posted my car on DSM Trader last night, here is the e-mail I got this morning:

"Hello,
I am interested in buying your advertised car, please i will like to know the last asking price/present condition of the car.I will also like to know the availability of the car,i will be paying with a certified check,i will also handle the shippment,do mail me back asap, thanks.

james"

I replied with:
"The present condition of the car is near mint. The paint is a little
faded, but for a daily driver that's expected. The interior is
absolutely beautiful, it looks brand new out of the factory.

If you want the rims included, I would like $4500 total.

And no offense to you, but I am very hesitant about certified checks
because of all the recent scamming going on. If you did decide to buy
the car, you would have to send the check and wait until the bank
declared it not-counterfeit before I would ship the car to you.

Where are you located?"

And this is his reply:
"Hello,
Thanks for the mail and the briefing.I am ok with your correspondence.Hence,I have instructed my business associate in the States to send you a cheque of $8000 as I am out of states on a business seminar ,all I would need you to do is to deduct the cost of the car{$4500} and send the balance funds to my shipping agent who will come down to your location for the pick-up of the car .The funds will need to be sent to the shipping agency via WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER upon receipts of payments at any of their transfer outlets in your vicinity. If all these is apprehended,I would want you to get back to me with the contact name ,address and phone number to which the payments will be sent to. Hope all these is understood and I await your response ASAP.
Best Regards."

I swear this shit sounds familiar. Was something like this posted here before? Or did I read it elsewhere?

I'm hesitant...do you think he's scamming or not?

Ahh I just read that he lives out of state. This is the same shit people are getting scammed for, is it not?

Yah, really sounds like a scam to me. That's a load of crap, other than this scam I have never heard of that kind of payment and transaction (maybe its because i'm young, and don't have much knowledge about that kind of stuff), but I mean why would he send you $8,500, whne he could just go to his bank and get the $4,500 needed?

Oh well, I say scam, smells like bullsh*t to me.

This scam has been going on for awhile. It's good money since it's low risk, so hella scammers are flooding classified ad sellers.

It's gotten to the point that if you listed a rubber-ducky on dsmtrader you'd still get those e-mails.

Don't send them your money.

Man I am glad that you didnt fall into that shit, there are people out there getting scammed for hundreds of thousands, it makes me sick thinking about it. people are flying to africa to help people out and then they get shot, and the government does nothing, they sometimes even get a cut.

Nah, I'm not falling for any kind of shit anyone pulls with me. If they aren't buying it locally or aren't meeting me to pick it up, then they need to send the cash to me via money order, etc. before I send the car off. I have no intention of falling for scams.

LISTEN. Do not send this guy anything. Ignore him. I work at a retail store where we send Western Union, and I swear I get someone like this once a week. They end up fucked, and Western Union will not do anything. Why would he send a check for $3,500 more than the price of the car???? Think about it. He will take your money, and if your stupid, his friend will pick up the car too. Don't be one of the idiots that come in and sent out 10 grand to some guy they don't know, and are crying cuz they got nothin left.
