My car is ready for the graveyard.

Read this if you want. I'm completely fed up with my car. I know most of you are gonna laugh at my car but I'm used to it lol. I still love my DSM :)


Problems with my car:

Some electrical problems - there is a short somewhere. Interior lights, door chime, power antenna, security doesn't work. Also my ignition switch. If the wire harness is even touched, ignition will not work. Right now it's in the *perfect* position.

Ugly - yes, my car is truly a horrible sight. Ever since that *minor* accident i had with the guard rail due to bald tires and wet roads, my car has turned into a christmas colored Spyder. Bent the frame a little, passenger fender was fucked to hell, and a minor scrape on the rear bumper. Oh and the hood had a kink. Got the frame straightened out and put my friends old GSX stock body on. Now I have a red hood, sanded down front bumper cover, new black fender and misc scratches on the body. It's getting painted this spring sometime, though.

Oil - I don't know where the hell it all goes...Maybe on the ground and all over the valve cover. I have a minor leak coming from the relief valve plug. My oil cap has a bad seal. Needs like a quart a week.

Exhaust - leaks all over. My downpipe is 95,xxx miles old, falling apart and just plain garbage. Sometimes (very rarely) it will smoke like a bitch. I mean it smokes so bad you'd think my turbo blew up. But this has only happened 3 times within the past year. Weird.

Transmission - i fucking hate my transmission. 1/2 synchro crys every time i start to drive my car. Grinds maybe 50% of the time. The other 50% you just hear *clunk* when i switch to 2nd.

Motor - I'm starting to believe that pistons 4, and possibly 1, have bad rings. Oil are on the plugs when I pull them. Belts squeal, everything keeps getting dirtier and dirtier, there's a damn rattle somewhere just haven't found it, and it sounds like i have an army of mexicans under my hood with machine guns (lifter tap).

Turbo - has maybe 30,xxx on it. Got it for free, brand new from the dealer (long story on how that happened, read my other posts i'm sure you'll find out why). Well it's starting to get shaft play. Nothing major though. Just very, very minor.

Clutch - Can't even rest your pinky finger on the top of the pedal without it sinking to the floor. It has to be my master cylinder. I've reaplced the slave, dampner, and whole clutch assembly. (Kind of amusing watching my g/f trying to drive it. She likes to ride the clutch and it always sinks to the floor lol). Oh, and my *new* RAM Premium clutch with maybe 5 - 6,xxx miles is starting to warp. Every now and then it starts to 'chatter' a little when it engages from a stop. Oh well what do ya expect paying $170 for an entire clutch kit. It's probably from me beating the asshole off my car the other night. Seemed like everyone on Rt 18 wanted to race.

Convertible top - well at least i don't have to shower when i get home every night (if it's raining). All of the seals are bad, leaks on each side. When you get out of the car it looks like you pissed yourself cause your pants are soaked. My car is a 5spd turbocharged bathtub on wheels.

Audio - well my Pioneer P6600 was stolen from the mall parking lot last August. It was just ripped out. The fuckers weren't even careful :( lol Messed up the center console a tad (not noticeable). Now I have a Sony somethin or other. It was given to me by my friend. Has no brace for it, just sits in the compartment with a big gaping hole and wires are all visible. My rear Infinity speakers are just about shot. Front speakers are new pioneers. My tweeters are blown.

Interior - cigarette burn in rear seat. A rip on the passenger side seat. Carpet is shot. Cig lighter refuses to work no matter what I do. Car surprisingly smells good though.

Driving experience - Honestly i really am a good driver. My car still is quick despite all of the shit that's wrong with it. Pulls pretty hard. I can't see a damn thing at night though. Something is seriously wrong with my headlights. I've tried adjustments, cleaning and new bulbs. No luck. I'd like to get projectors. On top of that, the leaks were already mentioned. Then there's the occasional stoplight fun. "Nice paint job faggot!" That was said from some dorky lookin ass pirate in a Malibu with a weedwacker exhaust. So I reply "tell me, why would you put a fart can on mommy and daddy's car?" That resulted in him getting pissed off and wanting to "race my piece of shit 4 cylinder". Too bad he didn't know it was turbo till all he seen was my taillights and heared my SSQ.

In conclusion, I really do hate my car. I would love to see it either blown up or driven off of a cliff. But then again I really do love my car because it's fast and because of all the hard work, sweat and blood I put into it. Anyone wanna buy a 97 GST Spyder? lol j/k. I'm trying my hardest to save up as much money as I can to fix all of these problems myself. Even though my car is probably the ugliest piece of shit in the world, I still love it. I could be in the worst mood, all I have to do is take the car out for an ass whoopin'and I feel all better :) You'll know it if you ever see me driving down the road lol.

I really wish I could. I would love a 97 - 99 GSX :) In excellent shape and low mileage. But I don't have $13,000 + to spend :(

I was thinking...If i rewired my rear view mirror lights to another power source, would that work? I'd be happy with only these interior lights. Like ran the power wire to a power wire in the ECU and the ground wire to a good ground. And then hid the wire. Would I be able to turn on/off the lights this way?

Feel your pain!!! I have a 95 gst two trannys, two engines and a turbo. the trannys, i shifted hard and fast. Learned my lesson. Turbo went two weeks after the warrenty ran out, bought the car used. First engine lost to oil pump that went bad, didn't know it was bad. Second engine had 800 miles on it same thing found out the oil pump was bad. Looking for new engine. I love the car but I also hate it. My wife wants me to sell the POS but I'm not sure thats going to happen.

I had a "run in" with a curb a little while ago and the curb pushed my drain bolt back and made a nice little hole(thank god for jb weld) but it leaks like a whore.

My initor is shot. Made the mastake of taking it apart and instead of putting it back together right then(installed a audio system) said i would do it tomarrow,weeks went by and my dad cleaned the garage and put all my stuff in a corner. Lost lost of shot all my intior is fucked.

Then their is the weird problem when my rpms just decided to drop down and bounce back and forth and u have no power.

Don't forget that when I use my turn signals every light dims, my blowermotor controls(AC buttion) does not work so I have a switched connected to the blower motor so I have 2 speeds 100mph windtunnel of death and off

And the previous owner decided to hit a curb with the rear passanger wheel so even with all the adjustments of the control arm it likes to eat tires fucking fast. Chips scraches dents, and the best part even when my car runs I dont get the joy of a turbo. Fuck I want a 2g GSX more shit to break. Got to love DSM's :)
