Has anyone here put a custom dual exhaust on their 3.8 V-6? I have a 1990 LX with the V-6, and right now I replaced everything from the resonator back with a straight pipe, and it sounds pretty good. However, it rasps a little at mid-RPMs and I want it a little louder so I was thinking about taking the resonator off and replacing it with an X-pipe. If I do this, however, will it sound alright at high RPMs? Or will it just sound raspy and high pitched? Will this take care of that rasp I have right now? Thanks

If that aforementioned setup would produce a rasp, would a pair of glasspacks fix that problem?

so you're planning on running straight pipes from the headers back? not only will it be raspy, but it will be loud as shit. put some mufflers in and keep the resonator. the 3.8s become raspy when you remove the resonator.

well i made the modifications. I cut everything from behind the cats back off, fabricated an xpipe, and ran duals. The sound is great, not quite a v8 lol, but still nice. The exhaust itself isnt raspy, just at a certain RPM I get a rasp (cat heat shields). The xpipe really makes the difference I think. And yes, its loud, but not overpowering.
