Can someone tell me how to remove the inside mirror. It has a barrel connecting it to the plate. I want to change it with an auto darking mirror with compass.

If I'm not mistaken it's just a allen wrench, torx bit, or a plan old screw that usually holds it to the plate. Look for the screw thats holding it on,

If it was only that easy. I'd attach a picture if there was a way. Its not like any other mirrow bracket I've ever seen. There is no screw you cant see the base only the mount which looks like 1/2 a barrel.

There is a small slot that you can insert a small screwdriver and depress a locking tab inside the base. Then it pulls off. The little slot is to the left in the picture. On the windshield it is on the bottom.

That makes the most sense. Here is what I got from the other forum.
"just pull it down and i will pop off..."

On my '02 after you clear away the plastic, push the mirror up, is on an A shaped mount on the windshield. No screws or bolts.

Well seems like everybody was wrong. I just got it off. I was trying to find a tab to push, in the bottom and started wiggling it, but couldn't feel a tab. However I saw it moving.
Here is the solution.
Just wiggle it side to side and pull it up at the same time and it comes off. No screw, no tab. just a slide on.
