We've already come to the conclusion that I will be needing to get my 2nd gear synchro replaced. My question is can any shop/tranny shop do it, or does it have to be a specific shop that's dealt with 3000GTs before. I know the latter is prefered but say that I can't find one who's worked on our cars before, will a shop that does tranny work be able to fix it? How different is our tranny from others?

-Oh yeah, I think my 3rd gear synchro might be slowly going to (it slightly grinds when I shift into it)....so I might as well get that replaced too, right?

Any tranny shop should be able to do it. I know someone who replaced his synchros himself with no proir experience so it cant be that hard.

Ask over at 3SI, they should be able to point you towards a close shop that deals in our cars (they did with me and when I went they were working on 4 other 3S cars)! I say get your first 3 synchros replaced while your in there, it'll probably make things much better shifting wise, how much is a individual synchro anyways, like $80?

Yeah, I think it was like $80 a piece....then there's labor...ugh.... Anyways, I don't have an 3si...can you ask for me? Hehe Ask for the Bay Area around Berkeley/SF area if you can. Thanks. :)

Ok I'll ask, but you gotta be responsable for looking around and achecing it out, I'll edit this post with a link to the thread in a sec. Ohh and labor shouldent be expensive once they're in there, I'm guessing the work is primarily dissasembly and reassembly and not puting the things in so you might aswell get a first and 3rd also, I would.

Umm ok Ican't figure out where to post this thing lol... I've never been west of colorado and I don't know the geography well. Why not just move out here to Boston :)? Theres a great place called Enhanced Street Performance that knows our cars best.
