Hello.
Just got a P reg (1997) Ford Escort today.
It drives brilliantly and all works well.
I was opening up the boot and all the doors doing things inside it.
I closed up all the doors and the boot then locked the car with the central locking.
About an hour later, I went out to the put something in the boot - it opened with no problems.
Then 10 minutes later, I went back out to get something out the boot and it won't open!!!! :o
The key goes in the lock and turns most of the way but will not go the full turn. When I try to use the electronic boot release from inside the car, it makes the clicking noise as if it has opened but when I go out to lift it up, it's still locked!
What could be causing this?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers,
Feeta

It sounds like something is caught in the mechanism that will not allow the lock to release. If your seats fold down you should be able to get to in the boot by going in that way otherwise you may have to get the lock cylinder pulled to get it open. Good Luck.

I can get into the boot through the seats, yes.
How, from getting in that way, can I unlock the boot? Is there a way?

Check to make sure that the mechanism is not blocked or jammed with something. You may have to disassemble the locking mechanism from inside to get it to work. Also check to see if the lock-out for the electrical release is not half way engaged. This can cause a similar problem.

Ok, it's all sorted now!
I had to take the back panel of the boot off which was pretty tricky but I ecentually got it all stripped down and noticed that there was a big chunk of metal blocking it. I don't know where it cxame from though!
Thanks for your help!
