I was reading alittle over at the forums at www.tccoa.com, and i found out about my steering problem...most likely its a pump going bad..or just a simple flush/fill..either way, i found out something that i didn't even know my car had...Speed Sensitive Steering.....
It basically tightens up steering at highways speeds, meaning if you disengage something...you get EASY..or even twitchy steering at highway speeds....if you like really loose wheel, disconnect the connector on the black box thats under the rear deck..INSIDE the trunk, if you open your trunk, get in there, you'll see a black box thats mounted on the right..it's like 5x4inches i believe, anyway, if you pull the connector you'll get easier steering at high speeds.
Some people DON'T like that, but i do. I'm gonna unplug it tomorrow before my trip to work on the highway, i want to see how loose it feels at 70+mph. I wish this helped out slow speeds damnit.. BTW, what this does is put your power steering into full assist mode, making it easy all the time...except under 15mph damnit..
PS, on some cars it's under the passenger side dash..or behind the glove box.

Sounds like you are referring to variable assist. If so, not all Birds have this.
If you have this, why on earth would you want to get rid of it? I guess if you're trying to flip your car at high speeds or swerve into the next lane and sideswipe the car next to you - you might want to disable it. But what's the point of going to all of this trouble? Sounds to me like an accident waiting to happen...

I tryed it today going to work...and it's nothing i'd recomend. Basically it make the wheel a "tad" more loose on the highway, which some people like..me for instance. I just connected it back together, honestly it's better to leave it..

if there was an amp in there, it would be next to that black box. or in that area.
