automatic transmission problem

i recently installed a new automatic transmission and it seems to knock when i try to crank it over. i think that its a problem sumwhere between the joint of the flywheel and Torque converter. is there a spacer on the flywheel(between the flywheel and torque converter) like i got a spacer with the flywheel and im not sure if it belongs on there
