I need help... I was wondering about my broken A/C..
A guy went to fill it up and said that it was doing weard
crap and that it may have what they call the.. BLACK DEATH..
I dont know if its a true diagnostic or not.. He said only Fords
do it, and I would have to change out the whole system..
Apparently, when he went to charge.. Said something about
the pressure being to high in the system.. That none was
going in, and he didnt know what was going on with it..
Well I looked at my girlfriends 97 Explorer's A/C when she turned
it on and the Compressor Started spinning.. On my mustang
the Compressor never cuts on!....
What could be the cause of not having my A/C..
I think its the Compressor, but B4 I spend 240 $
on a new one.. I would like to know if this
is going to fix my problems...
Could the Condenser be bad?
Would that effect the Compressor? Why it wont turn on!
Could it be a Sensor?
Or could it be the BLACK DEATH...
(BLACK DEATH) Supposedly its where the system , the R-134
maybe mixes with the oil or something like that.. I just know
the whole system turns Black and Goowey!
Please give me some Suggestions....
Thanks A Whole BUNCH...
Mike

I know its a long post, but its an interesting one..

Mechanic said it would be $1200.00 USD
on and estimate...
and i say.. Screw that.. I just had my heads done
and it was 1100$.. He estimated 1200$ for it to..
What is this.. Seems like the Estimates are always
1200$...
I have built and put a 350 engine in my 89" Camaro RS
and know alittle about cars, mostly Chevy! Now I have

Well, first of all, the compressor has to kick in before the system will suck any refrigerant into it...you can see if you can force your compressor to kick in by jumping the connection either at the compressor or at the high pressure switch...if it doesn't kick in after jumping the connection, probably going to need a new compressor at least....
