Help! How to prep my JDM mirrors

I just got my JDM power folding mirrors in and there pretty worn. I want to take them apart, sand them and primar them this wkend. What grit(s) should I use, and what can i use for the black trim around the mirror? The trims is really dirty and faded. Thanks ALOT..HELP!!!!!!!
