Atleast I don't think so....I just bought a '93 Lude VTEC not to long ago all-stock by the way...thing is..I have a tought time hearing the VTEC and feelin' the bust etc. the engine sounds fine is very quite almost feels like I'm driving a lil civic or something I can't hear the engine in a stop LIGHT!!! sometimes I think it turn's off!! that's how good the engine sounds and feels good but when I step on it....I just don't feel it as fast as I thought VTEC Prelude's R!! it is all-stock tho and it has 182k miles on it!! could the miles be the problem??? that I can't hear the VTEC scream ass loud as it should or feel as fast as it should?? please HELP!!

All I can say is at around 5100 rpm you should hear and feel the vtec kick you in the ass - especially 2nd and 3rd gear. It kicks in almost hard enough to break the tires loose. My engine runs quiet and smooth too. If the radio is up even little bit I can't hear the engine at all, and I can't feel it idling because it's so smooth. When the vtec kicks in it gets really loud because it's got an SRI. 140k on my engine.

if you want to hear your engine put a cat back exhaust and a header on it... depending on the tip it will sound different, but even a stock vtec is like 190 horses... finally the fact that it has high miles is nothing... just change the timing belt soon and youll be scraight.

thankx guyz I hear it sometimes louder then other times I now it's weird but I feel that way...LOL...about the timing belt planing on changing it next week or soon along with the water pump... how much money I'm I lookin' to spent on these two parts and those it matter on brand?

p.s. I had a '94 Lude VTEC with intake, exhaust, headers,a stage clutch and I heard felt the VTEC "felt it also"...tho it also had lots of miles around the same 178k !!! I think I was just expecting LUDE VTEC's too be much faster  lol

here's some pix of my LUDE ...hopefully they come out ;)

Get an SRI, and you will hear it for sure.

If its a little wet out and I stomp the gas at 5k in 1st, I can break traction all the way through the middle of 2nd.
