Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting another car, but I don't want to pay the high prices for a car that I'm going to redo. I have been doing some research on this, and I have found that, you must have ALL receipts for anything that was considered "salvaged" Now my question is that there are centers you have to go to, but anyone know of any in NY that are lenient? I won't be selling the car for a long time, so I'm not worried about the loss of value from it. Also has anyone had to make there car "streetable" after it was considered salvage? Thanks inadvance!

i beleive that you have to go to a special dealer to get a salvage car. Not anyone can buy them and even less people can sell them, so its kind of hard to find someone, unless youre like me and know whole bunch of people in the car industry. I would help you out, but im in Illinois.

I have a salvaged 96 DX...paid $4500 for it with 25,000 miles on it (in 99)....It now has 80254 miles and it still purrs like a kitten...the car drives and runs just as straight as my other two civics do. I bought it from some small car dealer in Milwaukee.

Did you have to bring it to one of the special "Salvaged Exam" places? Also what was considered salvaged? Also do they check for crash test stuff under the bumpers? Thanks inadvance

are u thinking of swapping vin numbers??? Up here in canada they have made a new system where if a car us branded salvage for a person to make it driveable u have to change the "brand" to rebuilt, and then u have to take it to the safety place. Which sucks, 2 years back u didnt have to so it was really easy swapping vin numbers from salvage to a new car.
