Allright. strait to the point. I've read that the evo's cams are hallow, im not sure about the 1g or 2g's. does anyone know what sugnificance hollow cams? Also, does anyone know how the evo Cam compare to the 1g or 2g cams? are they a viable upgrade from stock? (not $, just performace)

i've started to see people talking about swaping their 2g MAFS with Evo MAFS insted of going with the GM MAFS setup. anyone have the scoop on this?

one last thing. i've tryed looking around on some of the evo fourms about the newer 4g63. does anyone know of a thread that explanes the physical diffrences between the evo's 4g63 and the dsm's. cams, pistons, rods. just currious.

Cant use EVO cams in a DSM, they spin the wrong way and are profiled accordingly. The MAF is a viable option, but I believe some rewiring is necessary. That aside, you will have to adjust your airflow numbers by 24-27 percent, so it may have roughly that much more capacity. The stock MAS will support 50 lbs/min, the EVO perhaps 62, if it is in fact 25% bigger.

The evo MAF is an interesting idea. But, I suppose it isn't necessary for a measly evo16g :(

nope. Expensive too. just thought i'd ask. MAFT still seems to be the most logical option.

For a 2g anything up to a 50 trim hardly has the balls to challenge the stock MAS. And most poeple with larger than 50 trim turbos are still only running upper 40s for airflow. There are several advantages to the MAFT, but if you are not willing to put in the time to callibrate it you are better off using the trusted 2g MAS. For a 1g, this all changes, since the 1g MAS is a complete toilet.

I saw someone post that a new evo8 mas is 325. Seems awefully cheap. At any rate, if thats correct, its no more money than a maft. But its less plug and play as far as wiring goes. Just thinking out loud.

Do you mean per session? To get it right with a given setup? Or how long have I been tuning in total?

It can take hours to get a decent tune after making major changes. It can take months to get it right for a given setup. And I've been tuning my POS for 4-5 years.

With dSMlink and a wideband, I can have the car tuned in a couple 3rd gear pulls. At least to the settings I want. Wether or not those values I shoot for make the most power is a whole other story ;) Tuning with a OBD2 type setup can take time. Be patient, make small changes, and keep in mind that this is supposed to be a little bit fun :)
