for the auto to stick swap youll need to be abit more specific. i assume that this is the same car you wish to put an 8cyl. engine in? if so you have to findout how much power you want and all the little details so you dont have to change it twice. your best bet is getting a used t5 out of a junkyard and throwing it in there. itll be a between 500-1000$ but then you need to get all the other stuff...clutch, flywheel, bellhousing, tranny mounts, shifter, clutch pedal assembly. etc you can also but a kit. iv seen them around going for about 2k. for the engine swap, once agian you need to have a little bit better idea of what you want it to do. if you post you goals for horsepower/torque, and 1/4mile time{or if you want it to autocross or what have you. im sure alot of the more knowledgable members can help you better. one option it to pull the engine out of an old explorere at eh junkyard. youll have to prebuild it and clean it up most likly but itll be mighty cheap. you can get creat engines...already build ready to drop in... for about 3-5k if you looking for the 300-450 hp regine. or you can get a stock production-b50-302 from ford racing. the block{im not [possitive} but i think it gose for around 500$. then you need to buy allt he extras. good luck man

he pretty much summed it up. the pedal assembly changeover will be the biggest PITA in the project... trust me, i've done it.

I reccomend that you go with a Tremec TKO for the trans, as they are popular for mustang swaps, hold lots of power, and basically bolt right up (with the correct bellhousing). the also hold up well to the abuse of drag racing up to plenty of horsepower.

I have a world-class t-5 in my car taht was given to me by a good friend... unfortunately he abused it pretty badly, and i'm sure it'll be the first thing i break... then i'll be installing a TKO with a lakewood bellhousing and spec clutch. better start saving.
