anyone see anything wrong with this intercooler?
im shooting for 350whp but I'm likely to upgrade the intercooler, but this will suffice for now.

it seems really small. Id shoot for something bigger, and is that a respectable brand?

i think it would work for you but 24" or more would help a ton with air flow.. you'd be much better off with minimum 24".. like awdsr20 said, 30" is good for him on his sr.. somethin like that wouldn't be bad on a ka

yes they are sidemounted...in the left fender well. I recommend the Greddy VSPL Front mount intercooler...best cheap intercooler you will find from a credible company. $700 and its big and can handle up to 400hp i believe

Boooooo. Go with the boostdesigns. Its a bar and plate design and can do 400whp safely. And it fits the bumper no questions asked.

And guys, its not so much the length or the height that matters, its the thickness of the core. Boostdesigns coolers are the same measurements(24"x6") except the standard comes 2.75" thick and the upgrade is 3.5" thick. And that is the difference between 400whp and 500whp.

Ummm... not quite. A longer or Taller intercooler will always outpreform a thicker one. however longer fins will result in more pressure drop and its that same reason why thick cores are bad - they prevent air from moving as easily across the core.) also what good is air thats already been heated? Temp-differential is what intercoolers are all about. taller coolers are best but packaging constraints keep them from being too square.

i know i know, i shouldnt be cheaping out, but i really want to get this thing done so i can be ka-t by mid summer. i could snag an intercooler off of like a mx-6, and reroute the intercooler with rubber hoses, but i havent decided yet, right now i just want it cheap, and i can make it reliable.

well if you want some serious temporary intercooling then go find an old volvo turbo..

How did you hear about the Jickel cooler?

Theres one thats being passed around the Austin 240 guys right now. A Local used a volvo intercooler and Radiator on his car, now he has a good FMIC but he still runs the Radiator on his 400+HP SR.

piping will be $ dough?? did u consider that?

ya look at the entire set-up, jsut shop around, the bigger the vooler, the cooler the air, the better the power, as we all know heat is not good for hp.

And with 240s, space is an issue. Without a different front end, a taller intercooler won't do much good as it won't get any flow.

on the s13, i can see how nissanfanatic has a point.. there isn't much room for a taller intercooler but there is room for a wide one.. the problem then is the piping.. it must be wider to avoid air flow restriction when air comes into a wider intercooler.. so basically i guess i have to change my point of view.. atleast for the s13..

I'm gonna say, the boostdesigns cooler is just about as big as you would want to go without an aftermarket bumper. Its a 24"x6"x2.75" and I had to do a little trimming for the endtanks. You can see in my pics where the endtanks run into the bumper. Piping is pretty tough on the cold side. You have to finagle the piping in between the washer fluid resovoir. Unless you want to attempt the other method where you go over the frame and come up the end of the radiator. If I were you, I would go with a kit. Proven fitment and everything is included. But I will tell you that couplers and clamps are NOT included with the boostdesigns kit and you have to weld a BOV flange on yourself.

i had to cut my bumper to fit mine in...
