Headlight Troubles

So I have this problem. 00 GTP, 67k, no headlights (high or low beam) or dash/radio/ac lights. Light Switch, night sensors, HUD and DIC all work. I replaced the Circuit breaker by the glovebox and the fuse under the hood is OK, and I know the bulbs aren't blown.

With the help of two dealerships and a lot of experimenting I've basically narrowed it down to the parking brake switch. Evidently it's stuck so I need to find it and replace it, but I can't find it.

Has anyone had this problem? I'm leafing through my Chiltons as i'm typing this but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Going to the simplest things first, did you check the fuses? The next thing I would check is your fuesable links. Most circuits that have power with the key off are protected by a short piece of aluminum wire that is designed to burn out first in the event of a circuit overload. IF you live in a state that uses salt on the roads in the winter, this aluminum wire can corrode and get brittle, break and cause a circuit malfunction. Most cars have fuesable links mounted at the starter to the post that the Battery cable hooks to.

I checked the fuses and they were fine, I also checked the ckt brkr in the glove box fuse panel and it happened to be burned out. I replaced the ckt brkr and the lights still don't work.

It wasn't the parking brake switch. I used a multimeter and checked voltage; pbrake engaged - no flow, pbrake disengaged ~ 12.

I spoke with another dealer today and he brought up the possibly of a bad F-Connector. I'm trying to find this part but can't on gmpartsdirect.com. Called three dealerships (all the connectors and switches i've dealt with on this issue have been dealer parts) and none of them stock it but could have it in a day or two.

Don't think the salt will be an issue, I live in Georgia :iceslolan .

The problem is still intermitent. Every now-and-then the lights decide to work.

the other parts i'm looing at are the Daytime Running Lamp Control Module. I was thinking it could be causing this because sometimes, (with the headlight switch on) when I would open and close the door hard, the lights would pop on.

I'm still working on it, i'll look into the fusible links and post back later :smile: .

It was the circuit breaker. well, not the actual circuit breaker but the connectors inside the fuse panel that are SUPPOSED to make contact :banghead: . the top connector was loose and not making a strong connection. Makes sense now. It was the reason slamming the door to shake the dash worked sometimes. Anyway, more of a reminder to me, don't forget the little things.
