You don't suspect water (now ice) in the fuel?

no i know its not water. i also changed the good old 109 relay. tested the glow plugs there all good. the only thing i can think of now is that there is not enough fuel pressure anyone know if that sounds right. or any other ideas. need help bad

Have you checked the anti-shudder valve or the EGR? It's possible one of them is sticking.

Sometimes you need to bleed the fuel line with a vacuum pump. The line coming off of the pump (return) Put a vacuum line to a resivour and line off that to your pump and just fill it up about 4 times, that should get all the air out of your hard lines.

Also if your gas cap is not sealing totally then the fuel system will not hold vacuum and the pump will run out of fuel.

Also if your gas cap is not sealing totally then the fuel system will not hold vacuum and the pump will run out of fuel.

If you're referring to the cap where you fill the gas tank, this is true for the gassers, but not for the diesels. You can remove the gas cap and drive all day long(not that you'd want to).
