No.
You can get an adapter to splice the coolant lines going to and from the heater core together so they by pass the heater core.
That, or you could do the smart thing and reverse flush the core and get it working again.

Unless your only going to drive your truck in the nicest weather your best to get it working.
I've gone for a 2 hour drive on some very nice hot summer days and encountered some snow storms in the mountian passes. I was sure glad to have a working heater then
There are alternatives to stock heaters with self contained air conditioners, just look on google
Besides removing the heater will kill any chance of selling the truck in the future

I'm lucky, the vacuum hose on my 85 Blazer goes right under the dash, so it's easy to get to.
I know someone that did your trick dmbrisket 51 just using a tap from the hardware store, and 50 cents of adaptors

Comon dmbrisket, Isn't that why all us that see winter wear 3 parka's at once, and all us Canadians don't leave the house without our toque(winter wool hat). Plus lets face it that ice scraper that we were all born with instead of our hand must be there for something lol

you talk as though i live down south... i see how it sounded that way... i live in michigan, 5 min. from the lake, and let me tell you what, lake effect snow sucks, what starts as a nice clear day in 10 min can be a blizzard in the making... i gave up on the dressing warm thing and installed a remote starter, omg untill i fry the computer with the thing, it is soooo nice on the - mornings

I know where you live dmbrisket 51 you told me in the sanding post... I was just kidding around a bit... Sorry
I wish that I had a remote starter, but the truth is that when it gets to cold for me to function my cars don't start anyways, so I don't go anywhere. (I don't usually bother plugging them in unless I absolutly have to go somewhere.)

I failed to mention that my daily driver is a diesel, although it can get pretty cold and still start. Gas motors often need plugging in around the same time.
I'm actually lucky where I live. It only gets that cold around 1 week a year here. I couldn't imagine living way up north where it really gets cold and stays there.
To be perfectly honest if you came for a visit where I live you'd probably never go back. Plus that paint remover works during the summer here

Look into flying to Kelowna BC http://www.kelownabc.com/visitors/index.php for your travel plans, and I'll meet up with you for a beer, loan you my Blazer for a few days if you have a clean abstract and you'll probably have the holiday of your life.
You'll have to rent out a boat though. My friends won't let me own one, and probably won't let me near one
That's basicly what happened to me for my trip to Quebec city, Quebec Canada
