Engine sounds like a Tank

I'm the new kid on the block, I have a 1997 Taurus GL Wagon and recently I changed my spark plugs on my Taurus and found that my spark plugs were brunt down to the core on two of them. So I replace all 6 of my plugs, and one of them had no fire pin for spark to thru and two of them were burned down to the nub, I change all 6 spark plugs and reset the computer by unpluging the battery cable, and it stills sound like a tank, it has a loud ruff sound like air is escaping from some where but can not tell where from, went to Autozone and one of the tech there told it sounds like a exaust leak. Has anyone had this problem before Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do a tank sound like?
