Problem with guage cluster...need help

Here is the problem....i had a 89 H/B guage cluster but the damn tachometer stoped working....so i got me a 91sedan guage cluster that i think is plug and play (just have to change the wires).....the thing is the tacho does not work with the 91 to ......so i tought that problem was not with the tacho guage.......but when i tried a old russian cars tacho it worked :sly:
so i tried the 91 guage with some 12v adapter that i had home and then i tried it work :eek7: but why the hell wount it work in the car......a wierd problem......all the other guages work ecept the tacho. Any of you have had the same problem?

88-89 clusters diff. from 90-91

soo howcome all the other guages work the guages are bigger yes and there is the engine check light but someone told me that its plug and play just have to put the right wires in the connector....or is this wrong?.....and i have to get me a 89 guage cluster?
most of the wires match when i looked it up from the 87 and 91 manual

save yourself the headache and get an 88-89 cluster...

so i have to rewire everything back? :mad: .....but if i still wanted to use the 91 what must i change or modifie :biggrin: i like the 91 is nicer and rounder then the 89 :rolleyes:

dont know what wires dont have book on handy but i do know you gotta custom fit the cover to fit on a 88 model if your using 90-91...very simple though

Fiting the 91 guage was not a problem.....the only thing is the wireing that seems to be right but does not work with 91 guages:/
