I just bought a 2000 JGC and the shift lights in the center console do not work. All other lights seem to work fine. I have removed the front tray and also the compartment under the armrest, but still can't seem to be able to get the the bulb. The shifter bezel doesn't appear to be able to pop out. Do I need to remove the entire console? If so, what steps do I need to take to get it out? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

there are 5 screws holding the Center Console in place.
2 holding the rear bin (inside the arm rest storage area)
1 under the rear bin (inside arm rest sotrage area)
2 under the front bin. (in front of the shifter, pry the mat out and the screw is under it).
yes you will have to remove the whole console to get to the bulbs, the Shifter bezel and assembly is held in place by 4 screws, which are located under the console. Removal of the entire console is necessary to get to these screws.

I have a 99 with the same fault. I am interested to hear what you found if anything. I took my console off and found not a bulb, but a small black box with 2 contacts that mad contact with the plastic shifter "overlay". I cannot find it on a wiring diagram and am not really sure what it is. I am assuming the plastic overlay is treated with something that glows under current. Then again, maybe not.
