Help!!! I have a 1991 3000GT and I recently started having problems with my stock car alarm. The alarm goes off almost every time I open the door unless I unlock the trunk first and keep the trunk open until I unlock the door. What did I do to cause this???? Is there anything I can do to fix it??? Thanks for any help you could give. Pamela

umm its just armed...do you have the remote for the car? if not then you need to get one or go to a dealership and have your alarm disabled. Cuz any time you lock the doors the security arms itself, and you need the remote to disarm it.

Thanks Twizted. I don't have a remote. I've only had the car less than a year and it didn't come with a remote. My manual says that using the key should disarm it. When I first got the car the alarm didn't go off. Then, one day it went off when I opened the trunk before I opened the door. Now it goes off every time I open the door without having the trunk open. Most of the time now I don't even lock it because it's inconvenient to have to open the trunk just to be able to unlock the door.

Hrmm, you should get a remote, there are a few on ebay now I think. Heres a great site on how to buy and progam the car to accept the new remote!

Hope this helps.

Well there's probably triggers that disarm the security when you turn the door key, those are probably worn out, and the trunk one is probably still good. So when you use your key in the door it doesn't "see" that you are unlocking the door before you open it, but it does "see" that you unlocked the trunk before opening it. So when you open the trunk it disarms the security, but when you unlock the door it doesn't disarm the security. That's my best guess, but you should look into buying the remote, then you don't have to deal with the trigger problem (if that's what the problem is).

Not all 3KGTs came with a remote to the car. Mine didn't, but I still have a factory security feature that would arm itself when I locked my car. Although I'm not exactly sure what it could be, I'm thinking that it has something to do with your triggers (like what Twizted_3KGT said). My triggers are old as well so they didn't work properly. After I managed to unscrew the driver side however, it has been working perfectly...the driver side at least. At any rate, try PMing ponchonutty. He's the alarm expert here on AF and has helpped me out a lot. He usually does aftermarket stuff but maybe he could tell you whats going on and hopefully, how to fix it as well. Good luck.

my car is doing the same exact thing... i recked my car and they had to replace the driver side door and it can unlock it and open like 5 - 6 times without alarm going off but every onbce and a while the alarm will go off so i have to pop the hood and disconect to the negative battery cable and put back on... and it looks like im stealing the car plus its embarassing...

i think every 3s came with a remote originally and owners broke them an never replaced them when they sold the car.

No, I'm almost certain not all GTs came with a remote. I'm the 2nd owner of my car and the previous owner bought a crappy alarm (just the alarm without keyless entry and so forth) for the car because it didn't come with one. I bought an aftermarket one later so I'm pretty sure not all GTs came with one.
