Okay I got a little problem with the hatch lock on my 89 camaro. The cable that goes from place where you put the key in to the locking latch snapped. I can just goto the junk yard and get a new one. BUT.... I cant seem to get the white plastic piece that is attached the lock off. The guy at the junkyard didnt know either. Its not something that alot of people have had to deal with so nobody I have talked to has a clue. Help would be much appreciated.

u can always go to chevy and see if they can order one for you, but knowing them like i do it will cost u like a hundred bucks (they are some bastards!) or u may check an auto store

This may be a stupid question, but i'm gonna check and make sure... have you tried checking a Chilton manual to see if it has instructions for it?

I checked the chilton manual before I even did anything and it has a paragraph on it. 5 steps for removal & installation. Step 3 is Disconnect the unit lock cable from the lock cylinder. Doesnt say how to do that. Im thinking its easy and it might just be rusted or something but I dont want to break it cuz I cant go and get a new one and it makes me mad cuz its just a stupid cable! :screwy:
