no passing gear?

passing gear does not engage when gas pedal pressed down hard to accelerate quickly. What could be wrong?

if you car is old enough you will want to make sure you T.V. cable is still operating correctly if you look at your throttle body you will want to follow the cable from the throttle body down to the transmission and make sure there is still tension on the cable and that it is still hooked up and hasn't broken if the cable is broken the car will shift very early and will not downshift when trying to pass someone or just trying to accelerate quickly
