I have :
Premier Pioneer Sound with
Pyramid Crystal 1000w head
2 4-way Pioneer 6X9s &
Pioneer IMPP 12" Subwoofer
not much, but it's something. sure kicks fuckin super loud when turned up to like 30 it blows away anything ive heard in a car before and on my control on my pioneer mp3/cd player the volume goes to 55.

Kenwood excelon cd/mp3
4 alpine 6 1/2
2 alpine 4x6
2 10 inch kicker L7's
400 watt ma audio 2 channel going to front doors
1800 watt ma audio mono sub going to the kickers
1 farad capacitor (i know i need 2) with 4 gauge power wires
The only systems i see louder than mine is at the stero competitions. Way louder than all that best buy and wal mart stuff. And cheaper!!! Build your own box and do your own installs. Find good deals on the internet.
Planning on getting a 4 channel amp to replace the 2 channel and run it to all 6 1/2's. Want to put in a playstation and a lcd screen.

Pioneer DEH-7350 head unit
Alpine Type R 6 1/2 components in the doors with tweets in the A pillars
JVC 6x9s in the rear panels
Alpine Type R 12" w/dual voice coil sub
Kenwood 600 watt amp pushin the sub
1 farad capacitor
Sound quality is great, sub distorts if I try to bump it too hard, I think it wants more power. I just installed the CAP and that helped a bunch, no more lights dimming when the sub hits.
And like bigry said its loud enough to cover all the rattles!

i have 2 12" kenwoods in a box with a jensen 600 watt amp. i know the amps not good but for $20 how can you go wrong. the speakers and box cost $180 and the subs are rated at 600watts each. i have some of brand spearkers for the rest of the car which one of them is blown. the head unit is a sony xploid but is blown in side so the sound that comes out of the speakers sounds bad. hoping to get a new one soon. also the head unit came with the truck and is about 6 years old. i'd never buy a sony again.

K guys stereos are my weak point so tell me, I am getting ready to install my 15" MTX Thunder 600 (1500 watt) and my 1000 wat amp. I know all the basics about it but my question is do I need a capacitor, and what is it and what does it do.
Thanks
Thanks

High powered stereo's pull alot of current. A vehicles electrical system is not set up to handle this kind of load efficantly. Ever notice your lights dimming when your subs hit? A capacitor is a great add on. It stores power from your battery so when your amp needs a sudden surge of power it draws it from the capacitor intead of draining your cars electrical system. It keeps a constant voltage to your amp where as your car battery wont. If you dont get one the life of your car battery will be short. I had to replace a couple batteries before i figured out the capacitor would help. Dont let anyone tell you that these dont work. They are full of it. If you go to a stereo competition everyone (that has a good system) has at least 1 capacitor.

K so can you tell me where to find on that will work good with my system and then also where to find one that will work for a talon with 2 10 and a 750 watt amp. I have gone through a battery in my blazer and an alternator in that pos talon.

Also, best to upgrade the battery grounds to a larger gauge if you are using a big amp.

I have one 15 that is pushing 1500 watts with an 1200 watt amp and it sounds better then the two 12 I had that were pushing 600 watt a piece from the same amp. A big part also comes with the box that the subs are in.

You wont really be upgrading that much if you go with kenwood. They sound good but its more of a entry level sub. An upgrade would be a competition level sub(kicker, audiobaun, rockford, alpine, mtx, etc....) Im suprised your pioneer sub could hold 1000 watts!!! Whats your rms power? Not max power. You must be using a jensen amp right? j/k. I had a pioneer 10 and blew it with a 240 watt kicker. And no i didnt turn it up so loud it distorted. Pioneer just has trouble handleing power from a real amp. But they do have good sound quality. I would recommend kicker for its quality and price. You will tell a HUGE difference between kicker and all that stuff from walmart(pioneer).

I have two pioneers IMPP 10s and I love them. For the money, they perform exceptionally well.
But I do agree that the IMPP 12 can not handle 1000watts RMS so the guys measurement must have been the MAX reading for the amp which means nothing.

Yeah i looked at yours. You got a good deal on them. I was happy with my pioneer when i had it. Good clean sound. But one day i decided i wanted more bass so i got a kicker comp vr 12. I paid $150 a peice for them. That was 5 years ago and every since then i have been stuck on kicker. You can buy those for a fairly low price now. Somewhere around $70. I love the L7's. The 10 inch is louder than a normal 12. There are other good brands out there. Kicker has just been the best for me. Always had good luck with them.

Thanks! I don't want to sound like an ass but I laugh at some of the pics these guys post of their "kick ass" system. What they have looks like what I did 15 years ago when I first started in the bizz.
To answer your question, it all depends on the layout. Something like this but using carpet you'd be in the $500 range. I am painting it with the same paint as my Jeep. Then, I have a buddy that does custom paint for rods and Harleys. He's like 2 years booked but will fit me in :icon16: When it's all done, probably about $1000 just for the box alone.
I am in talks with Baja Boats in using this box as a pattern. That way I can mass produce them. This layout I have can be easily modified for trunks, hatches, or just about anything. So, if I can strike a deal, obviously it would be considerably less.

Yip, your opinion ONLY.
Actually , they're really underrated.
Smart consumers don't buy because of the name brand, they do research on the quality and value for the money.
Pioneer sound amazing for what they cost.
I have had nothing but pure enjoyment out of my two tens and couldn't be happier.

I think rockfords suck. Mainly because of the price. You dont get what you pay for at all. You can get way better sound out of cheaper stuff if you shop around and hear different subs. Most people i talk to think they are the best mainly because of the price. Or what the guys at best buy tell them.... Pioneer sells their stuff at a very fair price! Good clean bass. I wish they would make better subs that handled more power with higher db's.

I'll keep that in mind, next time I need to put a Sound System together with my Canadian Tire Money.
No offense to anyone who owns pioneer equipment.
but from my personal experence and from what I've heard.
Pioneer is unreliable cheap crap.

Sorry to hear that. Really, any electronic gadget these days are put together crap. Now, I usually just stick to Pioneer decks and coax speakers. I've never messed with too much other stuff. I did have a real nice 10" woofer in a bandpass box. I can't remember the part number but it was a packaged deal from Pioneer. Man, did that ever my my wife's S10 blazer shake. Anyway, I've had no problems with any of the Pioneer stuff I sell.
Now, I do buy many things of a guy on Ebay. He usually sells mostly Pioneer decks. He said mostly they are new store returns or something like that. He said that everyone has the wiring harness covered in tape and you can see the wire was just wrapped together. Usually that blows the amp circuit. He replaced that $10 part and he's ready to go!
