anyone have some tips on hooking up the tires on a good launch? the high 200's I have is way different than the 160 I had with the NA and the boost just makes it that much more confusing

I haven't practiced it much either so obviously that matters but I'll get around to that soon enough haha

u need a clutch, a flywheel
coil over, springs and shock, sway bars, camber kit,
a full stand alone, some FD wheels with spacers,
also need to get rid of that T2 hood and swap an aluminium n/a one, and get a fluydine rad and a fmic, but not a big one, its overkill, a small decent one do the job very well.

dude he's asking how to launch his car.

call me overly skeptical but i dont see how you are in the high 200s with those mods.

I don't have money to throw tons of stuff onto this car, I have money to upkeep it and maybe put in a radiator next month or so but besides that I just want to learn how to drive it like I could with my NA... I don't know my exact HP and I don't want to waste money on a dyno so forget about that... I'm sure I have over 250 though but it doesn't really matter I just need some tips on launching from some other people with TII's...

Hey dumbass The turbo II hoods were aluminum and if he was to have the money to do this F*ck a front mount <V-mount

get in the kitchen, take a chill pill, a good glass of water, then a deep breath. hahahaha, seriously man, relax

v-mount or front mount, its quite a close call, and a v-mount will cost a bit more money and need more fab, and anyway, its a matter of taste, just like i dont like the scoop on the T2 hood, wich is why i proposed to change the hood...

How about we tone it down a bit? No need to start calling people dumbasses, and get all pissy.

my hood is aluminum and I like the look of the TII hood, unfortunately that doesn't matter because this thread is about launching!

thank you J-rat for a real answer, I was hoping I'd hear from you in this thread... I will test that method out... if anyone else has any information that pertains to launching then post

to the rest of you, stop arguing about things I can't afford because it really doesn't matter

I lauch around 4-5k because of my torqueless mofo. and i get a pretty good lauch out of it, without spinning too much the tires.

if thats the case, you're a great driver. this was done on street tires?

Soyo

I'm pretty sure J-rat doesn't have slicks because he doesn't usually drag as far as I know so I would guess it was with street tires

Yes, this was done on street radials (paid $20 for them, used). No slicks/ET Slicks/Drag radials. I have the timeslip and my NHRA number to back this claim up. Thanks for the compliment.

Soyo,

I have been drag racing much longer then I have been Drift/Grip racing. I started out in the domestic scene. The import bug didnt bite me until about 4 years ago!!

As you wish.. Was my first 13 sec with my FC. This run was on stock motor, stock turbo, stock IC. I just cranked the PISS out of the boost and went for broke!

jarret so you where into domestics ??
so driving a brand new FC in the 87's din't wanted you to stay with the imports??

J-Rat
03-22-2005, 04:32 PM
No, I went back to domestics and stayed GM from about 1988 till about 2001/2002 time frame. Ive owned it all, from a 79 Trans Am 6.6 to a 67 Firebird 400.

I got that old FC from my Aunt around Christmas of 01, and fell in back LOVE with it! And that was just an 87 BASE!!!

I sold the Firechicken and my 69 Chevy pickup like a week later, and havent looked back since. Picked up the 10th Anniversary about 1 year later, and sold the 87 Base. And the 10th now has about $10,000 in mods done to it.

My wallet has never been the same.

So where is dr1ftkid with the BS flag???...

Maybe you would be interested in some of my drifting footage too?

I was just playing with you. Some people have called BS on that slip in the past.. Whatever.

I thought I posted this vid before, this is just some random footage that I ripped from the various videos I have been on. I didnt even bother to fix anything, I just slammed it together.
