ok i dont usually post this kind of thread but heres the story. a guy i work with doesnt beleive that you can make 500 crank hp out of a 2.0 motor. "it just doesnt have enough volume no matter how big a turbo you put on it its not gonna happen" :screwy: he's a V8 guy and claims that if its so easy to use turbos and nitrous to make 500 off a 4 banger then why dont the v8's do it too and make twice as much?
so i need some links to dyno charts or whatever. anything over 500 is good. i also need a little bit of background on exactly how a dyno calculates the horsepower. i know you do a 3rd gear pull to redline and that it measures the horsepower and gives you your peak rpm and whatever but how does it do it?
btw the higher the numbers the better :grinyes:

Show him this video. 707 whp. That ought to shut him up real quick, and for the record, v-8's do do the whole turbo/nitrous thing, and do make twice as much.

However, that is a 2.4 liter stroker.
Mr. Rizzotti makes 494 whp with his FP red. Stock bottom end. 2.0L. He won one of the events at last years shootout.

It might be hard to find 500+ hp dyno charts on the stock block. Look around on DSMtalk.com now that it's back up--there are a few 500+hp guys on there.

Look on nabr and over half of the members probably have 500 whp charts :D They are all over the place. In fact 600 whp DSMs are becoming so "common" its almost scary. On www.dsmtooners.com you can find Dre's chart, 502 whp on Mobil 93 octane ;) Dyno charts arent even necessary though. Look at the quarter mile traps on www.dsmtimes.org and look at the weight of a DSM, ~3200 pounds in most cases. If your buddy knows anything about cars, he can guess at the what kind of HP it takes. And the math doesnt lie, if you do it right.
And how the fuck does he think the top fuel cars are making 4000 HP? 16,000 cubic inch motors? Boost, of course, WTF. This isnt rocket science.
