How does one recreate a polished aluminium look?

I'm in the early stages of modifying some wheels from a AMT/Ertl 72 Chevelle and in the process some of the chrome has(had) to be removed. Now chrome wheels look good, but polished aluminium looks much better. So the question is, how do I go about making these wheels look like polished aluminium, and not like they have been painted silver?

Best to get hold of some of the top line metallizer paints like Alclad II or GSI Creos Super Metallic.
