the fatf 1 ruined drag racing, the second was just retarded and the third will probobly ruin drifting, think of it, i know some people think its good for the sport, but now stupid kids are gonna be running around talking about drifting this and that and there are going to be retards on the road trying to impersinate tftf3 characters. i hate that, just like when im reading a car magazine for imports, some idiot comes up and says "are those the cars like in the fast and the furious" "that movie was cool" no, no no no no no no no, now this is going to happen with drifting, then they will make a movie about brian and his pals who used to be renegade drag racers and street drifters entering the jgtc and ruin that sport too. what are we gonna do....

those movies have created a lot of outrage in the automotive world... rightfully so too. people that dont know much about cars and have seen that movie drive me crazy.

Me? I own 2f2f, sit in the eclipse from the first one, and will go watch the second. They are good movie on entertiament value but like u said your self accuracy is off and they always bring a load of ppl that have clue what they are talking in. I suppose that is my biggest problem with the movies. You have to admit after the first and furious there where alot of ppl running around going liek yo i'm going to get me a jdm rx7 and slap some nos on it and run like 800hp. Half of them didn't even know what the word rotary meant. Sure they are the few that saw the movie and got interested in cars and actully reasearched but the number of idiots far out weighs the number of genuine ppl. just me 2 cents.

anyway, the "real live initial D movie"... it's shot in Japan but it's hong kong directors... from what i heard they don't make great movies... so don't expect too much from it.

I wish my story could be a movie. People actually learned something useful about cars by reading it. There's only a little bit of drifting(mostly by an ex-rally driver), but it's still pretty cool.

the well-known term for 'your' second definition is 'powersliding'... slightly different from drifting and can be done with ANY car. Which is what i said in the first place...

well the movies are entertainment not a real life thing people just dont know how to drive and they dont know shit bout cars. I saw the movies and have both and i like the movie for the cars not racing but i do know what you need to put in a car for the 800 hp cause i love racing games and play them alot (im looking into buying GT4) thats why i dont think about the racing in the movies cause you cant do it on the street unless you get permission to shut the street down. The Movies basically got alot of people into cars more like me With the SKYLINE AND SUPRA those are some of my favorite cars but i acuaaly know some stuff about the cras and most of the people dont even know what motors the supra or skyline uses basically they dont even know what the drivetrain is. One more thing some poepl cause they saw the movies think uif they buy a Japanease car it will be fast and they dont know about all the time to put in the motor to get it fast and they do think we'll slap some Nitrous oxide (NOT NOS ITS THE COMPANY) to make it fast but they just dont know we should all teach them about cars and dont worship them because they are in movies worship them for the Looks and power and what they are capable of doing. also if i had a car that was all beat up and looked like shit i wouldnt care its the motor to me not looks and all you people who spend thousands on rims first. not me it would go to the motor.

YES, they cars are riced out pieces of crap. YES, the acting is terrible. YES, the writing, directing, and stories are terrible, for that matter.

if you really truly are a devoted drifting enthusiast, and not one of the aforementioned fan-boys who jumped on the bandwagon recently, then a stupid movie won't "ruin drifting" for you. sure it'll make you groan, and will annoy you because of a few more idiotic ricers running around. but take me for an example. i have been into drifting since 1997. 1997! when did drifting become big here? 2003? maybe even 04? i was VERY happy when my automotive passion was underground, and only the select few knew about it. that way, you could tell who was hardcore and devoted, and who wasn't. now-adays, it's harder and harder to tell. drifting has gone through alot in the past year or 2, and alot of it has been things that i don't like or don't agree with. but you know what? i've been into drifting for fucking 8 years now. i'm not about to let a couple of faggoty fan boys or a couple of greedy corporations ruin the sport that i've loved for so long. if you are TRULY a devoted drift fan, all this hype and BS will just slide off your back. you'll say "no worries, i still love the sport for what it is.", and that will be that. those of you who are getting worked up into a tizzy about the movie are those who are taking yourselves way too seriousley, and perhaps are taking this sport way too seriousley. just go out there, have fun, and don't give a fuck about what everyone else is doing. that's my attitude, and it's got me this far, and i'm not turning back now. in a few years, when the next fad rolls in and drifting dies down a bit, it will prove who REALLY is a drifting enthusiast, and who was just a fan boy. chances are, most of the fan boys will jump ship to the next magazine cover, and those of us who are left are the ones who truly love drifting.
