is it worth putting one on a 99' GT 3800?

also I've seen some intakes that have a small rubber hose that comes off of it...whats that for? I asked around and heard some cars need it, some dont......do the gp's?

or can I just throw in one and not have to worry about sensors and shit

Some cars require a small hose to provide fresh, filtered air for their PCV system. Your GP does not. You will have to reconnect you IAT sensor though.

That one with the red hose attached could be capped with a vacuum cap.Like cass said the only hole we need is for the IAT sensor.

so there has to be a hole in the intake so the iat senor can be inserted?

Where are you getting the one in the picture??It look's to be a bit to long for under our hood's.Why not make a fenderwell intake with parts from either Lowes or Home Depot ???

fenderwell, as in connecting a pipe from the intake manifold to the fender....you have to then cut a whole in the fender somewhere right? and what about a filter...what kind would u need to get...

is it just cheaper.....or does it acutally make a difference?

We already have a hole in the fender, once the stock air box is moved you can see a plastic piece in the fender that you re-move.

Here are some links that can help you make your own FWI.Sorry but the one I made for a friend does not have pictures, since it is a few years old.

I have the Thrasher CAI and I love it. It's easy to remove for cleaning and service. It's certainly not the most efficient CAI out there but I don't have any plans to replace it.

I considered installing a FWI but really don't like the idea of having to bend an inner-fender support bracket out of the way. I'm an aethetics freak though. The Thrasher looks nice too.

I paid $230 for mine 2 years ago. Bought it new. You can sometimes buy them used in the "For Sale" section of ClubGP. Thrasher and MSP CAI's roughly the same price. WizAir is considerably more expensive.

If you don't want to spend the dough for one of these CAI's, and you don't want to make aFWI, you can always gut your factory air box. It doesn't work as well as a CAI but works better than a HAI, and actually breathes pretty well if you use a K&N flat panel filter. Here's some instructions for gutting your factory airbox. http://www.clubgp.com/cgi-asp/mods.asp?modid=51

well for $230 they dont make THAT big a difference, I would probably just buy some euro lights or something along those lines :D
