This noise is driving me crazy! I can't figure it out! There's a rattle behind my steering column, behind the pedals that occurs only during acceleration...stops when my foot is off the gas. Sounds like a loose nut, but I know it's not. Bad gas? Something else? Can anyone help?

could be the steering coupler on the steering shaft,I think I read an article about this somewhere, seems to be a common problem for the new dodges.

is it like an engine ping or like marbles sound in engine?

I own a 99 ram 1500. I have had that same rattling sound from day one, it is pretty annoying. You can't really figure out exactly where it's coming from either. Has anybody figured this out and had it fixed? Any help would be nice.

if it sounds like its coming from the engine, its called a spark knock. sometimes its bad gas, but the 97-00 rams are prone to blow their intake gaskets which cause that sound on acceleration. do you notice yourself going through oil frequently? thats a sure sign of the plenum gasket failure. anyway look into it and read this TSB, it will explain in detail.
