A few days ago i went to a local hobby store an was very happy to get the last kit the had :eek7:

This kit doesnīt match the Tamiya quality, as Revell-Germany hoped to do, but itīs quite nice an well molded.

Yes, i know there are to many other unfinished projects, but i couldnīt resist starting this Ferrari. :icon16:
Here are some pics of the engine:

Hi,

I saw all parts of the kit in another thread. That didnīt look bad and your engine looks great, too.
Nevertheless I donīt think - like you - that the Revell AG will reach the level of Japanese Car model manufacturers, as they said.

Iīm looking forward to see what the wheels will look like in the wheel wells.

Meh, the exact colour of the Blue I don't know , but IMO it comes close to light metallic blue, or some mica over silver...

I m just saying that in case you might be willing to makeing a blue one,
I know I m not!

I wonīt make any promises ;), but i hope to continue it soon.

are you going for an out of the box or detail build?
It will be an nearly OOB- build. I think i will add some etched parts from a "Hase"-kit.

I see the decal on the air box, is the pony on the intake a decal as well?
:p
Sadly they are all decals. Iīm still searching for some etched horses. Do you know any?

how did u make the silver lines on the red heads?
I used a thick brush, little paint and stroke it transversal over the lines.

Looks good! What did you pay for it?
17 Euros.

Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland have some great PE shhets with various ferrari badges and horses. They don't have a website but there's a thread somewhere on this forum with a copy of their catalogue. If you cna't find it, PM me and i'll email what I have.

Little progress on the Scaglietti. I was really busy the last few days, because my 1:1 car needed new brakes all around

Itīs very sad that the most of the nice details will be covered later.
I treated the whole exhaust with Alclad2 and used cigarette foil for the heat shield above.

http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/61/1561/6665306439306539.jpg

The "two in one"- molded pipes were seperated. Looks much better to me. :sunglasse

http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/61/1561/3638303131303466.jpg
Itīs the first time i used Alclad. I also tried to give the headers their typical heat discoloration.
As you can see, the headers do not really fit to the exhaust. :disappoin
Everyone whoīs going to build this kit, should bend them a bit up befor painting.

Very nice progress, and you're absolutely right about the details on the underside, once you put the protector plates on it, it's all been for nothing, all those nice details, for instance, the rear differential is just gone, no way you can see transmission either, ah, well, the most important is to know it's there for yourself, isn't it?

good looking progress, and keep on making those little improvements !

I was quite busy the last time, so only little progress right now.
Iīm still trying to save my red paint and started working on the interior.
The back of the seats for example, are not like they should be. At the left you see the corrected one, on the right the revell seat.

Less Hitchcock and more Tarantino :smokin:

Now TELL ME HOW YOU MADE THE PONY PLEEEEEEASE

I took some plasticine, pushed the grille into it and poured some resin in the created form (you see on the left).
After that i only had to do some work with a knife and some sanding to make it thinner.

Interior is nearly finished! It was very hard to get some brown flocking around here and unfortunately the one i got is much too rough and thick.

http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/61/1561/6332663336393361.jpg

I used TS46 "Sand" with a semi-gloss top coat.

After i lost my instructions:newburn: , i finally could make some progress on the 612. Big thanks again to Olivier (bigfrit) for his quick help!

http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/61/1561/3566646363366163.jpg

Luckily i could fix my paint problem. Itīs ts-8 all over again, no primer is shining through it anymore. :grinno:
I lowered the front about 1.5mm, removed the chrome from the wheels and sprayed them silver. The brake disks are drilled and painted with alclad stainless steal. The tires were much too glossy and so i gave them a light sanding.
The wheel connection is build oob, i only made the inner spokes a bit smaller and painted them flat-black. On this picture they are still visible, but normally you wonīt notice it anymore.

http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/61/1561/3963333163383365.jpg

http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/61/1561/6533626335373739.jpg

Seat-belts were added with the help of some textile tape. I rubbed down the adhesive layer and cut it in small stripes. The seat harness is made in the same way as the horses, copied from Maruiīs 308 GTB.

http://www.arcor.de/palb/alben/61/1561/3261636538323931.jpg

Now i will enjoy doing the final work. Not very much left i think.

Thanks for looking!

good job! nicely detailed.

Where did you put the resin pony BTW? :)

DasWiesel
06-16-2005, 08:11 AM
Thank you! :) The pony is not glued on yet. Needs some alclad finish. All little details on the body will follow now. The paint job took quite a lot of time. Itīs still not completely dry, yet.

By the way, i forgot to say: The rear brake calipers needed to be turned around about 180 degrees to be correct and the rear track width is a bit too big. The wheels will stand out if you build it oob.

Wow! Canīt believe itīs so long ago i posted here the last time.
Well, a small update:

The front grille which came with the kit was too thick in my eyes. So i took some sheet and made a new one.
http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/61/1561/3233336333363233.jpg
Finished grille with primer.(sorry for the bad pic)
http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/61/1561/6230333930393064.jpg
On the car, painted with Alclad stainless steel. Resin horse will come later of course.
http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/61/1561/3964323238653135.jpg

Finally i was able to fix my paint problem at the front hood. Ferrari decal was applied on beer-can-metal again. The covers of the front lights needed some sanding to fit right, but it looks quiete nice now i think.
