B4 buying a ebay intake & filter.

I have 2 questions.
1) Which one would you guys rather buy?
a) (unknown company) intake pipe with no filter for $45
b) Bomz intake pipe with filter for $75

2) If i get choice (a) then can i clean my old air filter? Its a OBX filter but i dont know if its washable or not. If it is washable do i need to relube it with some oil because i saw oil everywhere in the filter.

dont buy either. get a real k&n filter for about 30.(the black rubber top rather than chrome, the chrome alone adds like 30.)

then get your stock intake pipe, cut off the "mouth"(where the maf slides into) and the dump tube, throw that all away), then get a piece of exhaust pipe, a bent radiator hose, and clamp it all together. a pic of this can be seen at http://www.dejontool.com/DSM%202gC%20Intake.htm its the TOP black pipe. if you need more pics i can take some of my custom one. have had it on for a while and no problems. a failure in the pipe could result in a damaged turbo so take your time when you do it and make sure you cant pull it apart. when it is installed properly (filter must be held up by a bracket) it will have no where to go.

I would buy a K&N filter, and keep the stock intake tube. Or do a POS racing Home Depot PVC intake--JoeWagon and Kevin have had them...

I got the Bomz package thing, with the filter , and perfectly fine with it

Buy a K&N filter, get an ebay/procarparts mas adapter, and make a home depot intake or buy a no-name/used pipe. I got an ExtremePSI pipe, filter, adapter, etc.. for $70 shipped

will a injen intake pass a smog check, because I have the bomz intake and I took my car to get it smogged and it failed because of the illegal intake so I had to put the stock one back in, and I took it back it passed perfectly. I say this because some people say that a oringal performance intake have a plate saying smog legal or something like that

the K&N is supposed to be legal. just get the filter and hack the dump tube on the stock pipe...imo. If you want a pipe, check this one out on ebay; it looks clean, just like the injen one, comes with all the attachments and inlets:

k&n filters are rechargable. im not sure if that ebay one is or not. my ebay maf adpator came wiht a cheapo filter that didnt look rechargable. the cotton texture, quality, etc they use may be different but im not sure.

The only difference I see is the shape and price... I had the oval one on my old car and it was nice... when it got dirty I would take it out.... spray it with the cleaner... hose it down... let it dry and re-oil it....

As for the intake... I made the HD intake and thought it was great but ended up buying the hard/metal one off of ebay for the looks... Both were cheap!!!

I think im gonna go with Bomz Intake w/ filter. Thanks for the help u guys and i hope this intake fits, oh yeah and im too lazy to custom build my own filter because i need my car 24/7 (school) etc.
