what is the purpose of having breathers on the intake and shit like in the picture below? what do they do? and whats the diff. between that and the hose that connects one to another on my car??

the purpose is so that oil charged air from the valve cover doesnt get circulated into the intake charge and rob you of a precious 1/16th of horsepower.

or if you have an oiling problem that makes oil come out of your breather hole like me and dont feel like fixing it!!

if you do have this problem you should not be lazy like myself and correct it as it will clog up your iacv, and multiple other things. i think my problem is cause the motor has 119,000 miles on it and hasnt had a new pcv valve put in yet....yeah yeah i know im being lazy but that pcv valve is in the most god awfull place... at first i thought a broken ring landing or a worn vlave guide but im not burning any oil so i think its just the pcv valve. one day when i do an oil change and feel up to reaching further up (about 4 inches higher then the filter i'll replace the damn thing but till then its a gay ass valve cover breather!! besides its an excuse to get another motor.

hope that helps

thanks, but is this "mod" a good idea? or pointless? because i wonder why i have a tube from valve cover to intake. but that 1/26th is important sir.

pointless and its enviromentaly unfriendly. you'll have tree huggers stoning you everywhere you go.

oh and you need that hose to vent pressure buildups in the head. plugging that hole would not be wise.

not only is it pointless but you end wasting $10 on it when instead you can use that $10 for something else useful.

It's one of those things that you put on just before a car show...
