Hey guys. i have a problem, i looked and nothing realy answered my question..
i went to a local performance shop around the corner form my house and i purchased the flatblack Rota - Slistream rims for my car. the problem is...i went to talk with him today about when their coming and he told me he found out that im going to need spacers to make my wheels sit right while on the car, he told me that since he already had charged me for everything that he wouldnt charge me for the spacers. Later on i talked to my friend that told me he would never run spacers on his cars unless the car was just for looks ( which my car isnt) 2 other people in my family told me the same thing that spacers would cause more flex and thats bad for my car and what would the point be in buying performace parts if their not goign to work right.
is it bad ?
Why ?
thiers already coming should i make him get the right rims that fit right?? or or will the spacer be just fine when im take corners at high speeds ?? i need to know anything and everything u guys know about spacers Vs performance on my 95 Eclipse GSX. Thanks alot guys.

the spacer will change the wheel off set and your camber. your wheel might protrude.

he's probably getting the spacers because he thinks the offset on the wheels he ordered will be a little too high. GSX's like offsets around +35mm and alot of FWD wheels come out closer to +42mm or +45mm. Its not a huge difference, I'd look at the wheels without the spacers and see how you like them. I don't really like spacers either but they're not THAT bad if you keep them under 10mm in size.

I have 1/2" spacers on the front of my laser. They work fine, but youll need to go buy some longer wheel studs so that the lug nuts can grab enough threads....im still using stock studs, but hopefully ill get some on soon, been drivin it to and from work/school for 2 years like that.

you only have spacers on the front? what about the back? doesnt it look weird having the front wheels stick out further then the back?

The Rota - Slipstreams i guess since their made originalys for honda's / spoon replica or something like that, come only in i think 40 offeset. Eclipse's need 45+ if im correct......the 5mm spacers are going to add the extra 5mm to make the 45 offset mu car needs.
i just want to know if their going to fuck up suspension.....or make handling worse.....or both.

spacers reduce offset, not increase it, the only way to increase offset would be to mill material away from the lug face of the wheel (which is definitely not safe)

Many aftermarket wheels require hubcentric spacers, since wheels for our cars are typically not lug-centric as far as I know. If thats what he was talking about, they're perfectly fine. If they are actual wheel spacers, as someone else suggested, many many poeple run them on DSMs with success, as long as they arent too big. In fact all the DSMers running RX7 wheels are running 8mm spacers if I remember correctly. At any rate, thanks to those guys, they info is definitely out there.

Nope, it looks fine you cant even tell, looks like the front and rear tires are even with each other.
