96 Jetta Knocking

I'm getting a knocking/popping sound on acceleration and occassionally on deceleration. It's not the strut mounts, which I thought it was, as those have recently been replaced. Think it could maybe be CV joints, but it doesn't do it when turning, which I would think it would. Engine mounts all appear to be solid. Any ideas? Thanks!

Engine/trasaxle mounts, ball joints & control arm bushings, perhaps a tie rod or steering rack mount.

I have the same problem with my 94 Jetta. It makes a knocking sound in the front end when accellerating and braking.
I took it to a shop and had the CV axles (with boots) replaced, both lower ball joints replaced, and I have a whole new front braking system.
Everyone who has heard the sound says it sounds like my axles, but it can't be because I replaced them literally 6 days ago.
If anyone has a clue what I should do, let me know. My email is [email protected]
This is driving me crazy, and scares me because I have to drive my children around in this car.
