check engine light code 1880

The check engine light comes on and the car runs and shifts great. Went to a local autozone and a code of 1880 kicks out....Something to do with the transaxle............ I think a chip has been installed by previous owner but don't know for sure.Would this be a cause? Also how do I check for a chip added and can it be removed? 3100 v-6 auto overdrive with autotraction
