Another ETS, ABS, Check engine question

I have a 2000 GA SE and the ETS, ABS, Check engine lights have came on yesterday. I've done some searching though the posts and it seems the culprit is usually a wheel sensor. The car was repaired from an accident last monday and all was fine for the week inbetween. Do all 4 wheels have sensors in them? I was hit in the drivers rear quarter and the rim did take a little damage so I'm hoping it has to do with that side. I took it to AutoZone for a scan and it came back clean. Any ideas or other causes? Thanks!

All four wheels do have sensors. If you're throwing bad wheel sensor codes, chances are that accident might've shocked the wheel hard enough to dimple the inside of the bearing. So my would guess would be that you have a bad bearing on that wheel, and you're going to need to get a new hub assembly.

How do you tell what wheel if they can't find any codes?

Drive down the road, have someone help you. While you are driving, have them move around in the car listening at each corner - you should hear a rumbling, and it should be coming from the corner where you were hit. Go drive on straight, smooth paved country roads, and if the bearing has been dimpled, you should get a nice dull, pulsating rumble.

Alright - Thanks for your help. I went to a mechanic since AutoZone claims they can't read the codes and he found several stored codes all dealing with a different wheel. He thinks the hub needs to be replaced. Is he correct? Like an idiot I didn't ask for the codes.

Also, If I replace the hub should I stick with GM or go aftermarket??

No problem. My bet is deffinately that the hub needs to be replaced - such a shock as being in an accident would deffinately be enough to dimple the bearings and make the hub go bad. So he is right. And when you replace the hub, there are no aftermarket hubs, only factory, so buy one from a place such as www.gmpartsdirect.com. Dealers will rip you on the price. You should be able to find one for 150 to 250 $$.

Autozone carries aftermarket ones and they're about $80 - 110. I found a GM one on Ebay for $165. I'll stick with GM. I wish it was the wheel that was hit - that way I could get insurance to pay for it.
