when the key is in ignition and in first slot over [but not turned over] like to listen to the radio, pop a cd out, roll windows up, etc. is this bad for the fuel pump to leave it like that or should it always be on accesories for stuff like that. i just realized a couple days ago that i always put it there instead of accessories and wasnt sure if it caused a lot of wear on the fuel pump by doing that occasionally. thanks

It is my understanding that this will burn out the ignition coil prematurely. The coil is designed to endure a pulse of electricity and when the ign. switch is left in the position you describe a steady electrical charge is left on the coil,,, ultimately toasting it.

Don't use that position for playing your radio.
You will have to use it for windows but it should never be left there.

The '97 still required the key to be in the Run position for the windows to operate? I know that my older F-bodies are that same way, but my '98 Blazer, the accessory position powers the windows/radio. IMO, that is the way it always should have been.
I agree with the others, don't run accessories in the Run position. You power up a lot of systems in that Run position.

My 95 needs it to be in run for the windows to work.
