I have a 1997 ford f-250 gas engine 5.4. It was running really good didn't act up or anything, and now all of a sudden it will not start. The battery is brand new. It acts like it wants to start but it won't, any ideas what it might be?

Have you checked the fuel pressure and for spark? Find out what is missing then post back.

Thanks for responding. My husband is out of town and all I know is that it has no spark. It just spins over. I will see if I can find out more info on what's going on with it, fuel pressure, etc.

The way to check the spark is you take one of the spark plug wires off and put a screwdriver on the spark plug and also touch the engine block. If you don't find a spark then that is your problem.

For the fuel try and listen to the fuel pump engage when you turn the key to on on the ignition. Before you turn all the way to hear the engine turn over. You should hear a whine comming from the gas tank. If you don't hear the whine your fuel pump may be no good.
