Can anyone tell me where to locate the connection for the ALDL check on a 97' Jetta GL. I'm sure there has to be one. I took it to AutoZone they couldn't find it. Someone please help...

Right under the radio on the right side. There is a little cover plate for it about 3'' wide.

So...this requires removing the stereo from the den (dash)?

Pull out the ashtray, there is a button on the underside to remove it. Slide the cover plate to the left to expose the OBD-II connector (ALDL is an old GM type of data link connector)
