"Silverstar" lights

How bright are this brand of headlights? I have some blue tinted Xenon's that I'm not real happy with (one seems to cast a round beam and the other seems to be a rectangular beam, even though they came in the same package).
Also are the "silverstars" a nice white light or that dingy yellowish crappy looking kind?

The silverstars are a very bright, clean, brilliant white. If you use them, they work well, but everything looks a little different than normal bulbs. It gives a very clean (daylight) look to everything. Great bulbs - expensive though.

They aren't that expensive. Not anywhere near the cost of PIAAs.

Not near the cost of HID Xenon's.... :banghead:

I have the silverstar's in both the high and low beams and love them especially with the low on with high's mod. They are a big improvement over the stock headlights, like ryanszpara said they are a brilliant white. They were $26 each per bulb plus taxes here, but in my opinion well worth it.

Superbrights are pretty decent. 30% brighter than OEM (their claim). 1/2 the price of Silverstars at Wal-Mart.

I couldn't justify the $46 price to myself. Once the Superbrights go, I may upgrade to Silverstars.

I don't know if they make a set for highbeams. I didn't see any at my local store. Wasn't looking for 'em as my highs are bright enough IMO.

I just installed the SS lights (highs and lows) on my truck. Like the way they light up my road.

I am concerned about discoloration of my lenes. Time will tell.

Bought at Pep Boys for 49.99 a pair. Advance has them for 36.99 a pair.

Shop around. But they do make a difference at night. A nice light.

ON Four of my 6 cars and I'm very happy with the quality of the brightness and the cost was only $19.95 per bulb at my local AutoZone...

Here is the info on how to do it right from the original thread. If you want to read up about it more , just search the silverado forum for "headlight mod"

1) Open hood

2) Remove brace from firewall to Driver's side fender.

3) remove top of Circuit panel

4) unhook the snaps from the passenger and drivers side of the cover...look hard they are there!

5) Roll entire circuit board over towards the passenger side.

6) Locate the Grey connector...there is only one.

7) at location D3 (3rd down 4th to the right) is a light gauge yellow wire. It is the only yellow wire in this row.

8) Tap this wire and ground it to the Light ground on the firewall. Follow the lead from the Hood mounted light, and you will find it ...just to the left (YOUR OTHER LEFT!!!) of the Master Cylinder.

9) Put your stuff back together...you are done...arent you glad you kept that cover?

I cut and pasted this from another forum but have done this and it works great. There is another way to do it using a relay but this is alot easier and since your working on the power side and not the dround you don't need a fuse. The lights themselves are fused on the power side of the circuit

This also got me into thinking about removing the 4 headlight mod and go stock again, apparently the more light you have right in front of the car, the more your pupil shrinks and the less stuff you see from far away distances, hmmm..

Well, I just bought a set of Silverstars.. they look great! However, I doubt I will ever buy any again, as apparently, they have the shortest bulb lifespan available. At $40 a set, they oughta make 'em last a bit longer.

I have had my Silverstar low beams for a little over a year and the highs for about 3 months. My brother bought the sealed beam headlamps because of the year of his truck and they only lasted maybe 6 months before they burnt out. I can not say for sure at all but i think the longevity problem is with the sealed beam lights maybe......

ive had mine since late last year, no problems with them at all. The Wizards i had before are now my back-up lights incase i need them. Had them since 01 and they're still going strong.

I also have had them for years in 3 of my 6 cars and have had no problems..Just put them in the truck for Xmass so time will tell.
A moisture leak would make them blow if that's the trouble check for moisture...
