O2 sensor wiring.

This may be a long shot but I figured I would ask. My check engine light came on and I found out it's the bay 1 o2 sensor ( before the cat) so I picked one up... slight problem with the wiring though. The guy said just match up the colors. Easier said then done...
The car behind the connection on the current one has wires colored red, black, yellow, white
The old sensor that plugs into that has wires white, black, black, blue
The new sensor has wires that are white, white, black grey.
I didn't think to write down how the old and new ones are connected but I can check later.
I'm just at a loss and I didn't get to pickup a haynes manual yet..
Any help would be appreciated and if you need more info let me know. I can get the order the wires are currently connected later.

Can you return it and pick one up from the dealer?? That way it's "plug and play". As far as which wire is which, I don't know.

only one mitsu dealer in my area and for sensor they wanted to charge me 50 bucks more then this one cost. :/
I'd like to exhaust all other options first. I just bougth the car and since It was out of state I had to do alot of work so that it can pass inspection by this thursday and I'm kinda low on cash now. (tires + o2 sensor + breaks = $$$)
thanks for your help though. It was unfortunate they only had a universal sensor at the store.

I did a search on tuners and couldn't find much....this is all I could find. It seems that you got the right sensor (a heated one). Looking at the factory harness (on the car side not the sensor side) the wiring is as follows.
Red and yellow on the car side are the heating elements (it says that polarity is unimportant and you can hook them up either way).
The white wire is the signal wire for the ECU.
The black is the signal return wire.
You will have to look in the literature you got with the new sensor and see if they tell you which is which. The information above is for a 95, so I don't know if your's will be the same or not. You might want to give the dealer a call and see if they can verify the information.

I figured out the wiring on the bosch site for the o2 sensor. The o2 has the two white ones as the heater, the black is ecu and the grey is ground.
When you mean return to ecu is that the same as ground? The two heater wires are swapable aparently as you said.
If I can get the last two wires sorted out I'm good to go and pass inspection. Thanks for all your help.
FYI I tried to search google but all I kept coming up with was how to install a logger. Which didn't help with the wiring colors (you would think it might!)
Maybe I can get the mitsu dealer to give me the info if I call tommorow. If So I'll post here I'm sure someone else had the same problem.
A link to a page that has info on the second gen o2 sensor on 1000faqs link is broken so that was of no use either.

Did you get it working? If so, was my post above the way you wired it?

No not yet. I can't find more info on the eclipse side of the connector. I just need to figure out which wire is which. I figure I'll strip the current sensors wires and read the voltatges later on tonight maybe that will help.
I went looking for a haynes manual but the stores around me do not have one for my vehicle and can't get one till next week which will be too late.
I'll respond when I get it with the proper wiring method

the wiring was correct. But unfortunately it wasn't that it was really my catalytic converter. Bah 470 dollars later...

Holy crap!!! $470 for a cat??? You should have gotten a hi-flow. Here is a 3" for $127.

Why did you pay so much?
So the wiring above was correct??

that was installed. I dunno how to install a cat thats why I paid that much. I had todo break work myself plus new tires. I could get the parts cheap but the local stores didn't stock them and I have to pass emissions in 10 days from bringing it in the state so it had to be special ordered.
