well here is somethig to figure out
I bought this truck and it had a hole in the gas tank so i fix the hole and try to start it up it has not run for about 5 months at this point.
it smokes like crazy. I asked the guy that i bought it from and he said that it never smoked before, and i know that it didnt because i seen him drive it. How can i find out what is it. Did anybody had a similar problem ?? Or m'i screwd ??

I just rebuilt the head of my '87 B2200. If it somkes badly when you start the truck but it goes away after it warms up, it is either the valve seals or the piston rings. The valve seals are a pretty easy fix. Advance Auto Parts has them for like $20 or something. You will also need a valve cover gakset which is pretty cheap. If it is the piston rings, like mine is now, that's another story. Plan on a few hundred in parts and labor if you do it yourself; all but the machine work that is. If the engine compartment is looks 'dry' (i.e. no signs of oil leaking from anywhere), then it's a good bet that it's the piston rings. make sure your dipstick is in all the way and the oil drain plug is tight also.

When you saw the PO drove the truck it was already warmed up so it did not smoke by then.
If it smokes during start up and goes away once warmed up, it is the valve seals or stems.
If it smokes when you step on the gas on a warmed up engine to accelerate, it is the piston rings.
The hole in the gas tank has nothing to do with the smoking.
