An office mate has a 94 325i convertible with 155,000 miles. The vehicle has been diagnosed jwith a blown head gasket by a mechanic. Mechanic estimates repair at $2,000. His wife won't let him have it repaired because of a new baby (she wants to replace it with a mini van). He will sell it to me as is for $2,400. I am going tomorrow to check it out in detail. Never looked at it in detail at the office. Questions:
Is he in the ball park on price?
I have done 8 or 10 valve jobs but always on american cars. I consider myself an above average backyard mechanic. A reasonable repair with manuals?

I would say that's high. maybe . . . . $1,500.00-$1,000.00
it does have a blown head gasket. the head could be warped . . . . Check it out first.
This may help . . .
